It depends upon whether you know what you're doing.
If you have enough confidence to use a free service to host your website, you probably have enough knowledge to start your own hosting company.
Free hosting services tend to be highly transient, and the ones that stick around have ways of paying their bills at your expense.
Today is only day one for this blog, and I have much to say on this subject as the result of my long and varied experience.
